How to remove vinegar stains from marble surfaces, countertops and floors

One of the most elegant additions to the kitchen is to install either granite or marble floors. The beauty of this addition can not be surpassed by other coverage. However, marble is soft and porous, and while is beautiful is easily damaged by certain substances. The acids like vinegar will damage the marble quickly if left long enough. To remove vinegar stains from marble, just follow these steps.

You need:
– pure water
– sodium bicarbonate
– soft towels
– masking tape
– plastic wrap


1. Dry the remained vinegar on the countertop or marble floor. This action should be done immediately after it is spilled.

2. Create a paste using baking soda and water.

3. Wet the marble surface with pure water on the stain.

4. Apply the paste on the spill.

5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap.

6. Glue the edges with masking tape to make it as airtight as possible.

7. Let the paste to harden. As it dries, it will remove the marble stain.

8. Wait 24 hours. Remove the plastic and let the dough completely dry. It will take another 24 to 48 hours.

9. Gently clean the pasta with pure water and a soft cloth.

10. Repeat if necessary. If the stain is still there after two or three applications, call a stone dealer and ask for advice. A stone care professional can give you a different pasta to try on. If that does not work, your dealer can recommend a professional to clean your countertop or marble floor.
