If you have a vinyl flooring, you’re in luck. We both know how hard it is to clean since it’s waterproof. But what do to about cleaning and maintenance? You’re in the right place for answers. Check out my tips on how to bring back that luxurious and attractive flooring. It is all about a proper care and cleaning. Thus, your vinyl floor will keep its shine for many years.

Now, when it comes to cleaning, natural is the way to go. Trust me, you have everything you need in your home already:

– vinegar for everyday washing
– jojoba oil for shiny floors
– dish soap for tougher spots
– baking soda for stains from wine or berries
– rubbing alcohol for makeup or ink stains

1. You spill it, you clean it right away

No matter what, it’s orange juice spill or just a cup of water spill, you need to clean it right away. Think that sugary drinks get dried; thus, harder to clean. Why would you want to double your efforts? The spills could also damage the vinyl flooring if left unattended for too long. Even more, this step prevents you from doing a lot of work later. Don’t you want that?

2. Washing is easier with a vinegar solution

As a harmless substance, vinegar will safely clean the vinyl flooring and keep them fresh. This is the perfect solution because you need a mild cleanser. Due to the toughness of harsher cleanser, you might damage the flooring. Thus, to make this vinegar solution, just mix a cup of apple cider vinegar with a gallon of hot water and use a mop to clean the floor.

3. Deeper dirt requires heavy dish soap

Now, for deeper dirt, you need a heavier mix. Thus, try adding to your previous apple cider vinegar solution a tablespoon of dish soap. Adding a dish soap should lift the embedded dirt from the floor. Also, the magic will work best with a nylon mop for deeper cleaning.

4. Stains don’t stand a chance with baking soda

Make a paste of baking soda and enough water. With a soft cloth, rub over stains of food, like wine or berry juice. The baking soda is slightly abrasive and should take the stains right up.

5. Rubbing alcohol does wonders for makeup or ink stains

Rubbing alcohol does wonders for makeup or ink stains. Especially for bathroom stains of makeup and other pigmented items. The alcohol will lift the stains from the vinyl without damaging it.

6. Use a soft nylon brush for scrubbing

Another tip for tricky stains is the soft nylon brush. Scrubbing with this brush you won’t leave scratches on your floor.

7. Clean water rinsing and you’re done – residue removed

After you’ve cleaned all the stains away, rinse the floor so the residue doesn’t sit there. Soap and other substances that build up on the surface of the floor will damage it over time.
