Brass is a material that has been used by ancient civilizations, and, nowadays, it’s still used by many due to its durable and elegant properties. Made from zinc, copper, and other metals, brass often accumulates dirt and gets tarnished over time. If you have tarnished brass objects in your house, don’t try to use harsh cleaning products because you may ruin pretty badly its surface.
Anyhow, you should know that there are some handy household products that can easily help you restore any brass object.
I have an impressive brass vase and it’s my decorative masterpiece. Because of dust particles and greasy oils found in the atmosphere, my brass vase caught a tarnished aspect, and the following tips helped me a lot in bringing back the elegance and refined look of my masterpiece.
– white toothpaste
The main step is to apply white toothpaste onto brass surface and use the toothbrush to rub gently the object. Depending on the brass object this solution won’t require a lot of money nor time.
I honestly used 2 toothpaste tubes to clean my brass vase.
Another option, if you have small brass objects, is to soak them in equal parts of ammonia and water. Let them stand overnight and the next day use a toothbrush to remove the tarnish. Rinse it well under the water jet, and then let them dry. Also you can use paper towels to speed-up drying.
